Silver Lining Solar completed a 250.8kW solar carport system for a private parking lot located on the shores of beautiful Lake Hopatcong in New Jersey. The Quest Renewables solar carport system was constructed and installed earlier this year and provides clean power to The Windlass restaurant, a local favorite with lakefront dining. The solar canopy is the largest solar carport installation at Lake Hopatcong. The system will provide 80% of the power used at the restaurant and will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 148,000 tons annually.

In addition to slashing the Windlass’s electric bills while producing valuable Renewable Energy Credits, the carport provides an aesthetically pleasing shade canopy over cars parked underneath on hot, sunny days and will protect the cars from any inclement weather during winter months. The design of the canopy is complimentary to the design established at the charming Main Lake Market, a Camp Six property across the lake where Silver Lining Solar previously installed a rooftop solar array, and the adjacent Lake Hopatcong Golf Club, where players can learn about the history of the region while playing a round of miniature golf.

With Quest Renewables’ long span canopies, Silver Lining Solar was able to maximize energy density on a compact parking lot. “We are thrilled to have successfully brought to life this second project at beautiful Lake Hopatcong, and are proud to have designed, financed, and installed such a visually impressive solar carport,” said Barrett Silver, Founder and CEO of Silver Lining Solar.

“One hallmark of solar projects is that there are always challenges that arise that need creative problem-solving. Building this project, near water, during the early days of COVID-19, presented its share of unique challenges. The team of Camp Six, Eagle Bass Construction, Silver Lining Solar, and Quest Renewables collaborated in such an impressive way, creating a lasting environmental asset for the community,” added Finn Findley, CEO of Quest Renewables.
